This is the first question everybody asks. The track is a slim aluminum channel, color-matched to your fascia or gutter, and the diodes sit recessed inside it facing outward. From the ground in daylight it reads as a trim line, not as lights.

That is entirely dependent on installation quality. A channel that is not run straight, or that is a shade off from the fascia, is obvious from the street forever. We take our time on the layout because there is no fixing it later without pulling it down.

Power runs and transformers get hidden the same way — routed behind downspouts and into a soffit or garage, not stapled across the front of the house.

Each diode is individually addressable, which means patterns, gradients, chases and single-color washes are all possible from the same hardware. In practice most people use three or four saved scenes and a schedule.

The everyday setting for most of our customers is a soft warm white at low brightness — it functions as architectural accent lighting the other eleven months of the year, which is honestly where a lot of the value is.

Then holidays are a tap. Red and green in December, red white and blue on the Fourth, orange for Halloween, birthday colors when a kid asks. Schedules run on sunset time so you are not adjusting clocks.

Permanent systems typically run $4,000 to $12,000 installed depending on linear footage, roof height and how many stories the crew has to work from. That is real money and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

The math people run is against seasonal leasing. A household spending $1,200 a season on leased lights is at roughly break-even in five to eight years, and gets year-round accent lighting plus every other holiday in the meantime.

If you plan to sell in two years, lease. If this is your long-term house or a rental property you will own indefinitely, permanent usually wins.

Short-term rental owners in this county are the fastest-growing part of our permanent lighting work, and the logic is straightforward: nobody has to drive out to the property to change anything.

One system covers Christmas, Halloween, the Fourth, and everyday warm white that makes the cabin photograph well for listing photos year-round. Scheduling is remote, so a manager in another state can run it from a phone.

It also removes the seasonal access problem. Getting a lift up a steep gravel drive in December is expensive and weather-dependent. Doing it once, in good weather, is not.

Most homes are a one to two day install. We run the channel, seal every connection, mount the controller and transformer somewhere serviceable, then program your initial scenes with you before we leave.

The diodes and controllers carry a manufacturer warranty, and we warranty our workmanship on top of it. If a section fails, we come out and fix it.

We will not install permanent lighting on fascia that is rotted or on a roof edge that needs repair. If we find that during assessment, we will tell you before you spend the money.
